I took one morning off and went to the cablecar on the edge of Geneva, which goes up about 800 meters above the surrounding area. I was hoping to see a bit above the clouds -- but not this day.

A short walk to cheese fondue on a trail at the top of the plateau, in France!

I've arrived at the cheese fondue zone, only to find it closed. I did find the paragliding launch site -- a nice fenced-off patch of Astroturf just below here, which runs straight off the edge of the mountain.

OK, this is the best place I went to in Geneva for any meal. It's a low-key cafeteria on a jetty in the middle of the lake. It's less fussy than most anywhere else in town, and cheaper, and you're in the lake! That's Josh Emery, __, Anya ___, Amanda Sickafoose, Hamish, and Andy Rivkin, among others. Plenty of sturdy Swiss are swimming in that nice glacier-fed lake behind us.

And again on the lake. That is Geneva's famous Jet d'Eau running in the background. It takes a full 1.0 megawatts to keep that thing running. With Andrew Steffl, Amanda Sickafoose, Hamish, Andy Rivkin, Beth Ellen Clark, Amara Graps, Henry Throop, Anya ___, Shawn Brooks, ___, Josh Emery, and Melissa Brucker.

Cheese fondue!! 'I tell you very seriously: every household in Switzerland has one of these pots,' said my AirBNB host.
