Black Canyon of the Gunnison N.P. The situation is that the canyon has been formed in the midst of what otherwise appears to be verdant ranch & farmland. Aside from the existence of the canyon, it would be a remakably fine but otherwise non-descript area. I suppose that putting a big canyon in the middle of anything probably makes it more interesting.
